Transient Plasma Systems

We are pleased to announce that Transient Plasma Systems (TPS) is the latest company to join the Kairos portfolio.

Founded in 2009 as a spin-out from Professor Martin Gundersen’s pulsed power laboratory at the University of Southern California, TPS engineers pulsed power systems as an enabling technology for commercial, industrial, and research applications across a broad range of areas including combustion, bio-electrics, and agriculture.

“TPS is exceptionally pleased to partner with Kairos Ventures for our first round of outside investment to accelerate the development of our nanosecond pulsed power technology for numerous industrial markets.”
– Dan Singleton, CEO of Transient Plasma Systems

TPS’s vision is to design and produce state of the art compact pulsed power technology. TPS technology has been developed and matured at the University of Southern California, with over a decade of support from the Department of Defense. The company was spun out of the university with the express purpose of translating the technology into products and systems to respond to the demand of both military and commercial markets. In addition to intellectual property, the TPS team has a cumulative 50 years of pulsed power experience in solving the difficult challenges in producing compact nanosecond pulsed power.

With the funding provided by Kairos, TPS will move towards creating a production unit of it nanosecond power supply. As part of the investment, Nikos Iatropoulos and Travis Blake will be joining the TPS Board as observers. “TPS is exceptionally pleased to partner with Kairos Ventures for our first round of outside investment to accelerate the development of our nanosecond pulsed power technology for numerous industrial markets,” says Dan Singleton, CEO. “TPS technology enables transformational impact on large and growing market segments in energy, transportation, medical, and agricultural industries. Our vision has always been to make this technology available to multiple industries where it can make a large impact on the critical challenges facing our nation and the world, and we could not imagine a better partner than Kairos Ventures to help us achieve that goal.”

We are very excited about our investment in Transient Plasma Systems and welcome them to the extended Kairos Ventures family!
